About the Restaurant

Taste and See Soul Food Kitchen serves up Southern soul food the way it’s meant to be made — with love, served hot, and shared with people who feel like family by the time they leave.

Longtime Columbia locals may remember the restaurant under its original name, Just a Touch; it relocated and took on the Taste and See name as part of Gayle’s mission to build something rooted in faith and community. Same kitchen, same heart behind it, new name that tells the fuller story. Expect the classics done right: turkey wings, mac and cheese, collard greens, oxtails, and catfish, alongside weekly specials like Philly Meat Monday for wing and cheesesteak cravings.

Beyond the plate, Taste and See gives back to the community it serves, hosting free community dinners and customer appreciation nights throughout the year. Located at 6820 N. Main Street in Columbia, the restaurant has built a loyal following and a strong reputation — guests consistently point to the flavor, the generous portions, and the warm hospitality Gayle and her team bring to every visit.

About the Owner

Gayle Bradley opened Taste and See Soul Food Kitchen in 2024, right here in Columbia. A Sumter native and Hillcrest High School alum, Gayle turned a lifelong love of cooking into a full-time calling — starting the business with no money, but plenty of faith. She’ll tell you simply that it was time to go, and that everything she needed showed up right when she needed it.

That same faith is where the name comes from. Taste and See is inspired by Psalm 34:8 — “O taste and see that the Lord is good” — and that verse shapes more than the sign out front. For Gayle, it’s about genuine care, treating every guest like family, and living out the golden rule one plate at a time.
